Other responsibilities of the selected Scholar Athletes
Each student over the age of 18, or (if under the age of 18 his/her parent/guardian), will be required to complete and sign an
Authorization & Release
to permit State FarmĀ® to post his/her photo on the Texas Scholar Athlete website and other web pages (such as Facebook and YouTube), and to include it in press releases sent to legislators as well as local and statewide media.
If the Scholar Athlete Awardee participates in sanctioned sports at the university/college level, he/she is responsible for reporting the award to the NCAA Compliance Officer at his/her institution. In those cases where an Awardee has participated in NCAA sports, the State FarmĀ® Texas Scholar Athlete Scholarship has been accepted (in some cases the award amount has been applied against the total amount of financial aid received by the student in his/her Freshman Year) as being in compliance (for eligibility of participation) with Section
15.2.6.4
(Athletics Participation as a Major Criterion) of the NCAA Divisions I, II and III legislation.
The Texas Scholar Athlete Support Center will provide the requisite statement to the NCAA Compliance Officer when requested by the Awardee.
