State Farm® Texas Scholar Athlete Program Milestones
The Nomination Process
  • Opens at 8:00 AM (CT) on August 1, 2008
  • Closes at 8:01 AM (CT) on April 13, 2009.
Eligibility requirements for nomination

Nominations are to be submitted, through the website, by a High School Senior Counselor or a School Offical who has access to academic information on all students. There is no limit to the number of candidates that can be nominated by a single counselor or high school.

Students cannot be family members of State Farm® agents or employees (will be verified by State Farm®)

Students must be high school seniors who excel both in academics and athletics meeting the following criteria:

  • Graduate with the Class of 2009
  • Maintain a 3.0+ GPA or equivalent
  • Currently participate in at least one UIL Varsity High School sport.

Varsity sports currently designated by the UIL include:

  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Cross Country
  • Football
  • Golf
  • Soccer
  • Softball
  • Swimming & Diving
  • Team Tennis
  • Tennis
  • Track & Field
  • Volleyball
  • Wrestling
Usage of Scholarship Money

The $1,000 from State Farm® is given to the selected students after graduation and can be used however they deem necessary to further their education.

Each selected student must provide his/her Social Security Number and a Form 1099 will be filed with the Internal Revenue Service at the end of the fiscal year.

Other responsibilities of the selected Scholar Athletes

Each student over the age of 18, or (if under the age of 18) his/her parent/guardian, will be required to complete and sign an authorization & release to permit State Farm® to post his/her photo on the State Farm® Texas Scholar Athlete website and to include it in press releases sent to local and statewide media.
